2008 Nationwide Training for Nutritionist (Middle-level) in Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions Held in Nanjing

The Nationwide Training for Nutritionist in Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions was held in Nanjing from the March 30th to April 13th, 2008, sponsored by the CCAA and financially supported by Wide Horizons for Children, Inc. 44 staff members from 44 Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions in 20 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) attended the training, and were issued National Professional Certificate for Nutritionist upon passing the exam.

The training was based on the professional standards and training materials nationwide and combined with lectures, reviewing, tutoring and hand-on practice. It focused on mental and physical development of children, nutrition science for food combination, cooking skills, and the special needs of the sick and disabled children. In order to consolidate memory and enhance understanding, the training also arranged six nights for counseling besides the normal lecture to ensure that the students can pass the examination.

To guarantee the quality of training, a number of experts with high professional level and rich experience in teaching were invited to give the lectures. Their way of illustrating profound things in a simple way was well received by the students. They indicated that they would employ this knowledge and skills in future work combining it with practice, work hard on nutrition catering and commit themselves to the healthy growth of the abandoned and orphaned children.

At the same time, students of the second training session of Nutritionist (Middle-level) arrived at the training base on April 14th, and started the training on the 15th as scheduled.
