The National Training for Infant Caregivers in Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions was held in Xinqiao Hospital in Chongqing from the 18th to 29th of March, 2008, sponsored by the CCAA and financially supported by Holt International Child. The training was the 17th session sponsored by the CCAA from 2006, designed to equip staff members with the knowledge and ability to provide professional care and education to children under 3 years of age in the welfare institutions and raising the nurturing standards of the staff members. 29 staff from 23 Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions in 14 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) attended the training.
The training lasted four days.
Focusing on the status quo of children¡¯s welfare institutions, coached by senior experts of Xinqiao Hospital affiliated to the Third Military Medicine Institute in Chongqing. The training consisted of 8 professional courses, such as the children's health protection, early education, early intervention in the growth retardation of infants, prevention and treatment of infants¡¯ common disease, early identification of infants¡¯ major diseases, the identification of common infectious diseases, injury prevention of infant and children and the laws and regulations for the protection of children's rights as well as child-care practice. This training not only meets the needs of the social welfare institutions but also strictly follow the requirements of the professional qualification of care-givers. On the afternoon of Match 29th, the 29 trainees took an examination for the certification of Child Care Specialist, designed by the Ministry of Labor, successfully completing the training tasks,
The holding of Infant Caregivers in Chongqing serves as a prelude of training programs for child-care for children welfare institutions sponsored by the CCAA in 2008, and other training programs such as those for Physical Therapist, Nutritionist and Psychological Therapists will be held soon. |
