Through contact and coordination of the US Casi Foundation for Children, the US "Love without Boundaries" Foundation donated 40,000 USD to the Tomorrow Plan of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China for carrying out rehabilitation operations for seven handicapped orphans of congenital heart disease, five in the Shantou Welfare Institute in Guangdong Province and two in the Haikou Welfare Institute in Hainan Province. This is the first donations from abroad.
In order to release the handicapped orphans from agony as soon as possible, when receiving the donations on June 3, officials from the "Tomorrow Plan" office rushed to Guangdong Province personally. Together with personnels of the Civil Affair Office of Guangdong Province, they selected a noted professional heart disease hospital and discussed the case carefully with experts. Except one child, all the others were patients of complicated congenital heart disease, which was very serious. According to doctor's analysis, all the children could be rehabilitated through operations. Also, the operations got great support from the hospital. In spit of the busy bed situation, the hospital reserved sickrooms designedly and decided to send the deputy dean to make operations personally. From July 12 to July 19, operations for the five children finished successfully. Now all of them have left hospital.
These children have released from suffering disease through operations. They will start a new life just like other healthy children, a life of health and vivacity. Here, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the US Casi Foundation for Children, the US "Love without Boundaries" Foundation, the Cardiovascular Disease Institute of Guangdong Province and all the people who have cared and helped these children. Also, we hope that other handicapped orphans will continually get concern and love and donations from all circles of society both home and abroad.
(Besides, it is reported that the children of heart disease in Haikou Welfare Institute will have their operations recently.)
